Kenny Lui

Kenny is the Managing Director of WeValue. He has over 20 years of professional and practical experience in international accounting firms and international financial services company. Prior to joining WeValue, Kenny was a director in Deloitte valuation and modelling team. He served Deloitte valuation and modelling team for almost 13 years upon its establishment of its valuation team in Hong Kong. Before joining Deloitte, he served the audit function of PricewaterhouseCoopers as well as the finance team of Zurich Insurance Group responsible for the valuation and financial modelling.

Kenny has extensive experience in performing various types of valuation, including business valuation, financial instruments valuation, intangible assets valuation, investment portfolio valuation, expected credit losses assessment, long service payment provision assessment, etc.

He drove numerous mega-size cross border and domestic transactions, including valuation advisory projects for mergers and acquisitions, direct investment, fundraising, restructuring, dispute resolution, corporate strategic planning and acquisition price negotiation, etc. Those cross border M&A transactions he drove involved target companies located in UK, US, Germany, Australia, Kenya and Ethiopia, etc.

He has in-depth knowledge of fair value accounting, particularly in equity valuation, purchase price allocation, impairment testing, preferred share valuation, loan valuation, option valuation, and convertible bond valuation, etc. While in his service with Deloitte, he not only performed numerous valuation engagements for financial reporting purposes for external clients, he worked with the audit team to endorse valuation opinion as to the fair value adopted by its audit clients.

His industry experience includes financial services, insurance, securities brokerage, assets management, internet, online payment, gaming, hotel, movie theatre, telecommunication, automobile, manufacturing, bottling and beverages, medical devices, pharmaceutical, hospital, in vitro fertilization (IVF), real estate, transportation (including airline, railway, ferry, bus), infrastructure, oil and gas, power plant and renewable energy, etc.

Kenny frequently speaks on valuation topics at various seminars for accounting associations, corporate clients, universities, etc.

Balder Tsang

Senior Manager

Balder Tsang is a Senior Manager of WeValue with over 12 years of experience in valuation and investment management. Prior to joining WeValue, he worked in the investment management functions of an asset management firm, a private equity investment fund, and a family office, where he developed a strong foundation in investment analysis, portfolio assessment, and valuation of both operating businesses and financial instruments.

Balder has extensive experience in performing a wide range of valuation engagements, with expertise in preferred shares valuation, purchase price allocation, impairment testing, financial instrument valuation, expected credit loss assessment, long service payment provision assessment, and business valuation for financial reporting, pre-IPO, and transaction purposes. He regularly supports clients in meeting IFRS / HKFRS reporting requirements, working closely with management and auditors to ensure valuation methodologies, assumptions, and conclusions are robust, supportable, and audit-ready.

Balder has been involved in valuation engagements across various industries. His experiences include performing preferred shares and financial instrument valuation for a China-based technology company for pre-IPO valuation purposes, purchase price allocation assessments of a Denmark lighting trading company, impairment assessments of a Philippines business aviation service company and a China utility company and fair value assessment of a new energy vehicle group based in China.

Balder has accumulated in-depth industry knowledge across a wide variety of industries, including automobile and new energy vehicles, consumer and retail, contract research organizations, education, e-commerce, financial services, gaming, internet and technology, insurance, manufacturing, oil and gas, pharmaceutical, property development and management, securities brokerage, telecommunications, and transportation sectors, etc.

Jerry Tam

Jerry is a Senior Manager of WeValue. He has 8 years of experience in valuation advisory, investment advisory and credit approval. Prior to joining WeValue, he worked for another professional valuation firm as an associate director. Before that, Jerry used to serve in the investment advisory and credit approval function in the banking industry. Jerry has extensive experience in performing various types of valuations, particularly in business valuation, impairment testing, preferred share valuation, purchase price allocation, tangible and intangible asset valuation, financial instrument valuation and expected credit losses assessment. Those valuations are for the purposes of either financial reporting, transaction purposes or litigation support.

Jerry has been involved in valuation engagements across various industries. His experiences include performing available-for-sale investment valuation for a China-based technology company for pre-IPO valuation purposes, purchase price allocation assessments of China-based business consulting, tax and compliance advisory companies, impairment assessment of a Portugal-based multinational conglomerate and an offshore engineering asset operation and management business, and fair value assessment of available-for-sale investments for a China investment company, etc.

Jerry has in-depth knowledge in a wide variety of industries, including medical devices, e-commerce, consumer products manufacturing, knitwear manufacturing, pharmaceutical, financial services, assets management, offshore engineering asset operation and management, manpower outsourcing, robotics, telecommunication, oil and gas, medical and healthcare services, automobile parts and accessories, property development and management, building and construction engineering services, international media and entertainment sectors, etc.
